NSW: Our Home ' Ngalpun Mudth'

Ngalpun Mudth ('Our Home' in the Kala Lagaw Ya language of Moa Island in the Torres Strait) looks closely at cultural heritage and explores our relationship with the land, the sea and how we carry 'our home' with us wherever we go.

The performances draw on the culture of Moa Island and celebrate the commencement of a new cycle of traditional relationships with NAISDA Dance College, lead by NAISDA Graduate Dennis Newie. Tony Mudalyun Ganambarr and Heather Mitjangba Burarrwanga also lead performances from the Datiwuy Clan from North East Arnhem Land.

Directed by NAISDA Graduate Raymond D Blanco, audiences will be thrilled by new creations from an outstanding team of contemporary artists and choreographers including NAISDA Graduates Gary Lang (Australia Council Dance Fellowship), Frances Rings (Bangarra Artist in Residence) Vicki Van Hout and Sani Townson. The show will also feature a segment from Graeme Murphy's work The Protecting Veil.

Audiences will also be moved by new dance works from choreographers Pam Williams, Paulina Quinteros, Kristina Chan and Aku Kadogo.

As NAISDA Dance College moves towards its 40th Anniversary, the strength and vitality of the student dancers continues to grow, promising a highly memorable evening that will excite and challenge. Two works will also be choreographed by current Naisda Developing Artists Rodney Beatty and Kyle Shilling.
